Paris Hilton Sponsors MotoGP team

Paris Hilton fame is known to most of us under the title of “American Socialite” or “Media Star” as well as the heiress of Hilton Hotels & Resorts. Most of us also recall the huge frenzy created years ago for the unfortunate leak of a private sex tape featuring Hilton and her then-boyfriend Rick Salomon.
So, imagine the attention gained when Paris Hilton put her money and endorsements into a two rider MotoGP 125cc team World Championship!

The team, called the “SuperMartxé VIP Paris Hilton Team” is comprised of riders Sergio Gadea and Maverick Viñales (when at 15 years old, won the 2010 Spanish National and European 125cc championships!) will be the pilots during the 2011 season.

PARIS HILTON + IBIZA DANCE PARTY SERIES

The reality is, that this is in conjunction with the Barcelona-based team By Queroseno Racing (BQR) and joint efforts which is what resulted in the Super Martxé VIP team by Paris Hilton. The “Super Martxé VIP” name refers to an Ibiza-based dance-party series which Paris Hilton is affiliated with.  (Since 2009)

UNLIKELY PAIRING PARIS HILTON + MOTOGP

Are you wondering how the unlikely pairing of Hilton and BQR came to be?
Well, Joan Xufre a BQR company spokesman said that Hilton was approached by Riccard Garriga, a team partner, and Nano Barea, the founder of SuperMartxé to gauge her interest in lending her image to the proposed team. “The prospect of being involved really excited her to the point that she became one of the team owners, in addition to lending her image,” Xufre stated.

Hilton posted a tweet on her official Twitter page shortly after saying: “This is going to be fun!” and an earlier tweet read: “I love motorcycles.”

Xufre of BQR stated Hilton is contractually obligated to appear at five sanctioned races (there are 18 MotoGP races during the 2011 season). The actual venues she’ll appear at are not yet known.

No matter what, it is fantastic to see a woman taking power within the male dominated MotoGP paddock! Go Paris!
