Recent research by street retailer of motorcycle insurance Swinton Bikes located in Manchester UK study has found in the past twelve months more women riders are taking to UK’s roads – and they seem to be leading the way in biker safety! The research showed an increase of 15% in the number of females seeking bike insurance quotes.

Research has also shown that, proportionately, women motorbike riders are safer riders than male motorcyclists. In addition, while men may be reluctant to take up further training after passing their motorcycle test, women tend to demonstrate greater interest in advanced rider development training and safety courses after they have obtained their license.

The growing popularity of women motorcyclists can also be seen in the huge range of A-list female celebrities who have swapped four wheels for two. Well known motorcycle riders and enthusiasts include Charlize Theron, Megan Fox, KD Lang, Angelina Jolie, Pink, Alanis Morissette and Courtney Cox, to name a few.

Swinton Bikes states from their experience that if women are generally safer riders and have fewer accidents, it would also mean less motorbike insurance claims and lower premiums.

The UK has been reputed in the past five years for recognition this fact and most insurance organizations will offer a lower premium for women.

It’s a good idea when either getting new insurance or revisiting your current policy to seek out an insurance provider willing to reward these statistics.
