With more of us using our motorcycles to commute our demands for stylish practical rider bags to carry our belongings have increased. But there are few to be found. So that’s when Debra Chin came up with the idea for MotoChic Gear. This was just after Debra discovered her own passion for motorcycling when she learned to ride. She was disappointed with the “pink and shrink” approach taken by mainstream manufacturers of motorcycle apparel and accessories for women.
MotoChic Gear’s Two Popular Styles
Called the “Lauren” and “Valerie”, MotoChic Gear’s bags were designed after researching what women on the move want and need: functional gear that fits well and exemplifies their active lifestyles and personalities. They are first and foremost moto-designed bags, yet they embody extraordinary style.
The Lauren bag is a lightweight and aerodynamic convertible backpack/tote. Inspired by motorcyclist and style icon Lauren Hutton, this versatile bag can be worn as a backpack or a tote and combines classic styling with practical details that will stand the test of time. It’s built for safety, durability and water resistance.
The backpack harness is stored in a zippered pocket at the top of the bag and attaches to D-rings on the bottom backside of the bag when in use. A waist belt that offers extra stability can be pulled out from hideaway pockets also located on the bottom back of the bag. Both the sternum strap on the harness and the waist belt are fully adjustable for a tailored fit. There are two side tabs with locking snaps that keep the sides of the bag together in a secure and streamlined manner. For the tote mode, the wearer follows three easy steps to reveal leather shoulder straps. The interior of the bag features an array of pockets and MotoChic Gear’s signature moto graphic lining.
The Valerie bag is the perfect accessory for carrying essentials. This bag is named after Valerie Thompson who is a seven-time motorcycle land-speed record holder. The Valerie is a small clutch/wallet, and it includes six card slots as well as an interior zip pocket with a fab tassel zipper pull. The bag is designed to stand on its own or as a companion piece to the Lauren.
The Valerie comes with a long nylon strap and a short 100% leather strap. Using snap hooks on the bag, the straps can be arranged to create five different versions of the bag:
- Shoulder bag
- Waist bag
- Cross-body bag
Other moto specific features include large reflective panels for night time visibility, built in rain cover with reflective logo, and the tabs cinch at the sides for aerodynamics. The engineering and fine details are praise worthy and only make this bag much more desirable.
