International Female Ride Day® is your day to Just Ride — your way. Whether you’re joining a group ride, planning a solo journey, hitting the trails, or taking a weekend road trip, a little prep goes a long way. This Ultimate Prep List for International Female Ride Day will help you get ready, no matter how you plan to participate in IFRD.
1. Joining a Group or Event Ride
Participating in an organised ride is a fantastic way to connect with your local motorcycling community and celebrate International Female Ride Day® together. These events often attract riders of all levels and styles—so expect a lot of energy and inspiration!

Prep tips:
- Do a full pre-ride inspection on your motorcycle at least three days before—check tire pressure, fluids, lights, brakes, chain/belt, and battery. Give yourself time to fix anything that might delay your ride on 3 May.
- Ready your riding gear the night before: helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, layers, rain gear, and of course, your IFRD T-shirt or merch.
- Print and place your IFRD windscreen flyer (2025 AVAILABLE SHORTLY!) on your bike—it’s a great way to visually show your participation and spark conversation at the event.
- Confirm all ride details in advance: time, location, parking, route, fuel stops, and any group ride etiquette.
- Arrive early, fully fuelled, with time to connect with others and soak in the ride-day atmosphere.
- Bring a small backpack or tail bag with water, a snack, sunscreen, and your phone or comms unit.
Bonus: Bring a few extra IFRD stickers or pins—great for sharing and sparking conversation!
2. Riding Solo

Taking on IFRD solo can be equally powerful and empowering. It’s your time to reflect, represent, feel the ride, and own the road
Prep tips:
- Choose a route you love—or try somewhere new!
- Do a full pre-ride inspection on your motorcycle at least three days before—check tire pressure, fluids, lights, brakes, chain/belt, and battery. Give yourself time to fix anything that might delay your ride.
- Let someone know where you’re headed and when you expect to return.
- Pack your toolkit, first-aid, and a few snacks —this is your ride after all.
- Share your journey on social (optional!) using the IFRD hashtags and inspire others!
3. Meeting Up With a Few Friends
Sometimes the perfect IFRD experience is a casual cruise with your closest riding buddies.
Prep tips:
- Coordinate meeting points and times in advance.
- Agree on a general route and any stops—coffee? Lunch? Photo ops?
- Keep the pace inclusive for all riders.
- Consider matching IFRD t-shirts or ride-day accessories (some attach pink balloons!) for fun!
- Capture the day with a group photo or ride video and upload to the IFRD Yearly photo gallery and sweepstake!
4. Hitting the Trails

If you’re taking IFRD off-road—whether dual-sport, ADV, or dirt—trail prep is essential.
Prep tips:
- Know your terrain and difficulty level.
- Inspect your bike’s tires, suspension, and tools for trail-side repairs.
- Bring hydration, energy snacks, and navigation tools (map, GPS, app).
- Ensure you’re wearing all your protective gear for the trails—body armour, boots, gloves.
- Always ride with a buddy or let someone know your trail plan.
5. Going Out of Town – or Camping for the Weekend

Many riders use International Female Ride Day as the perfect reason to turn the occasion into a moto-weekend getaway —or even a camping adventure. IFRD camping events and ride-in weekends are growing in popularity, offering a great mix of community, exploration, and pure riding joy.
Prep tips:
- Lock in your destination early—IFRD camping events and ride-in weekends can book up fast.
- Do a full pre-ride inspection on your motorcycle at least three days before—check tire pressure, fluids, lights, brakes, chain/belt, and battery. Give yourself time to fix anything that might delay your ride on 3 May.
- Pack efficiently: prioritise weather-appropriate layers, camp gear that packs small (tent, sleeping bag, cooking essentials), and basic tools.
- Plan your route with fuel stops and possible detours—leave room for scenic side roads or spontaneous stops.
- Bring portable power banks to charge devices, and make space for some creature comforts—coffee, a good book, or that chocolate bar you love.
Camping pro-tip: Check if your IFRD event location has facilities or if it’s fully self-supported. Some IFRD events offer group meals, campfires, or guided rides throughout the weekend.
