Last Update: 10 February 2024

This year we’ll carry forward the theme FOCUS FEMALE FORWARD for 2022 International Female Ride Day® (IFRD) 16th edition. Since its introduction last year for the 15th edition the #focusfemaleforward hashtag has struck a chord and continues to be a needed – focus!
The theme champions parallel action alongside the long running IFRD call to action of “JUST RIDE!” Its action highlights and celebrates the many numbers of women who enjoy motorcycling, motorsports and powersports. Focus Female Forward with hashtag, #focusfemaleforward will add emphasis to the women’s ride day goals, and spotlight bringing women to the forefront in all activities related.
#FOCUSFEMALEFORWARD
#IFRD2022
IFRD has been cultivating current and new generation of women rider enthusiasts who have joined in, dedicated to advancing and empowering women in the motorsports and powersports segments. IFRD was created through viewing the motorsport culture through a woman’s perspective (Vicki Gray, Founder) and enforced by the women who joined in around the world! This road for women rider’s through the IFRD 16 years action has ensured more deliberate discussions about the focus and advancement of women in motorcycling/powersports. Things like what’s working, what’s not and what must change.
The Action #FOCUS FEMALE FORWARD
FOCUS
Focus intends to ensure IFRD goals are maintained and do not become diluted or camouflaged. That IFRD need not be combined with other purposes – it deserves its own rightful standalone cause. The action of promoting women riders is and remains the key focus of IFRD and a most needed one.
There is only one IFRD globally synchronized women’s ride day and the day merits a full spotlight to ensure the growth and development for women in motorsports and powersports. Numerous events and happenings occur around IFRD which is fantastic, but often IFRD becomes the “side-lined” feature of a multi-focused event. “Focus” is used in the 2021 theme as a bold reminder that IFRD needs to maintain its vital spotlight for women’s progress.
FEMALE
Female further underlines the focus in IFRD and champions for women literally up front. This is also to inspire manufacturers, retailers, and media outlets to ensure a female presence. This can be established in their displays, brochures, product avail, and online platforms. That female, though still a minority in a male dominated activity, is not omitted but equally represented.
FORWARD
Forward propels “focus and female” to call out the equality that IFRD strives for – forward. That the default stereotype when topics of motorcycling, motorsport or powersports arise, will not be to that of male, but of female and male.
Forward also chosen as women still only represent approximately 20% of all motorcycle riders. The work of IFRD and its forward momentum must continue for the expansion of women in motorsport.
