In the heart of Murrieta, California a special celebration unfolded on International Women’s Day (IWD). MV Agusta North America, renowned for its Italian motorcycle mastery, flipped the script by orchestrating a women-only hosted day. Branded as a women’s day of celebration with the “motorcycle art” it offered a unique plunge into the realm of two-wheeled marvels. I was thrilled to be part of the celebration!
MV AGUSTA CELEBRATING WOMEN RIDERS
International Women’s Day (IWD), with its rich history dating back to the early 1900s, stands as an annual testament to the invaluable contributions of women worldwide. This year, MV Agusta’s pioneering initiative provided a perfect precursor to the upcoming 18th International Female Ride Day (IFRD), a yearly celebration that places a spotlight on women’s involvement in motorsports.
“The influence behind starting this ride stemmed from not seeing other OEM’s do it.” stated Olivia Goheen, Marketing Manager MV Agusta Motorcycles North America, Inc . “I saw International Women’s Day as an opportunity to create an amazing day for passionate women in the industry to come together while also connecting new people to this charming brand. With that, I am also a lover of two-wheels and genuinely appreciate association with like-minded people who see the value in creating an inviting riding community. Now that this community has been started, we’re excited to see it grow larger every year!” added Goheen.

Taking part in this memorable event alongside fellow women motorcyclists, championing women on International Women’s Day with MV Agusta, held immense significance. It reflects a dedicated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity within the motorsport community.
MV AGUSTA AND KTM NORTH AMERICAN HUB

The morning buzzed with excitement at the MV Agusta (Pierer Mobility Group USA) headquarters, a dynamic hub that houses the iconic MV Agusta and KTM brands. Stepping inside, we were greeted by the company’s captivating lobby exhibit showcasing the remarkable prowess of MV Agusta motorcycles. Following this, we embarked on an exclusive tour of the facilities, which included exploring the KTM racing garages.
Who is Pierer Mobility USA? This is a subsidiary of Pierer Mobility AG, an Austrian company specialising in the development, production, and distribution of powered two-wheelers. Pierer Mobility AG is known for its ownership of various motorcycle brands, including KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles, and GasGas. Pierer Mobility USA operates within the United States as part of the company’s global expansion strategy, potentially involved in the distribution, marketing, and support of the aforementioned motorcycle brands within the American market.
One key memorable aspects of the day was the opportunity to interact with the women of the company during our meet and greet luncheon. Witnessing the shared passions for motorcycles and the dedication to their respective brands, whether on or off the road, was truly inspiring. This firmly underscores the crucial role that women play in shaping the future of the motorsport industry!

RIDING ITALIAN ART

Our collective venture onto the road on a selection of various MV Agusta motorcycles the highlight of the day – unquestionably. I was assigned to the MV Agusta Dragster RC SCS that seamlessly combines power, agility, and style. With its state-of-the-art features – including the innovative SCS (Smart Clutch System) – delivered a riding experience of excellence!
Stay tuned for a deeper dive into my experience with this remarkable machine in my upcoming review!

Following our on-road experience through Murrieta surrounding vineyard region twisty corners and hills, we shared a visit and dinner at the picturesque Doffo Winery and MotoDoffo museum. It is a motorcyclist’s favourite stop famed for its stunning sunset views! Here, we continued our celebration of women in the motorcycle community IWD!

MV Agusta’s IWD celebration represent a significant step forward for MV Agusta showcasing their commitment to inclusivity and equity for women. Though the brand has faced criticism in the past, particularly for a controversial promotional video titled “ Fulfill your dream // The Superveloce 800 Serie Oro has arrived” (age restricted video) which offended women motorsport enthusiasts, it seems clear that the company has since transitioned to a more respectful portrayal of female riders and women in general.
In fact MV Agusta celebrated worldwide with a ‘MV Agusta Women” video for IWD 2024. Which was powerful and enlightening!
While other manufacturers have also participated in activities focused on women riders, and events like International Female Ride Day have undoubtedly made an impact – MV Agusta’s efforts on IWD is a welcomed step in the right direction. This inaugural IWD celebration marked a significant milestone for the MV Agusta brand, and I am delighted to have played a role in it. I am eagerly anticipating MV Agusta’s ongoing support for women and hope to see their partner brands contribute to the expansion of this segment. As I’ve often emphasised, it takes the initiative of women to drive meaningful change for women.
Thank you to Olivia Goheen for your valuable vision!
