Last Update: 28 March 2026

These are exciting times for women riders. This guide shares tips and ideas to help you celebrate International Female Ride Day® (IFRD), prepare for your ride, and join women around the world in this remarkable global movement. IFRD continues to expand the visibility and participation of women in motorcycling and powersports, while encouraging others to discover the joy of riding.
Every woman who takes part helps keep that momentum growing.
Women Riders Still Need Greater Visibility
International Female Ride Day® began at a time when women in motorcycling and powersports needed greater visibility, recognition, and support. It helped bring women riders further forward — highlighting their presence, passion, and place in motorcycling and powersports.
Today, IFRD continues to earn respect around the world while helping break down barriers. It also builds and renews friendships across cultures and borders, uniting women through a shared love of riding. Widely recognised as a movement for women riders, IFRD is fun, inclusive, and keeps the voice of the woman motorcycle enthusiast present and strong.
To help you take part in this phenomenal global day — and make the most of your local, regional, group, or solo ride — use the tips below.
Most importantly, know this: the only requirement to join IFRD is to JUST RIDE.
This is the IFRD call to action and the soul of the day. Created by expert motorcyclist and women’s riding advocate Vicki Gray , it means exactly that — get out there and show your unique self. Whether you ride a dirt bike, cruiser, sport bike, trike, scooter, or any other machine, all forms and all brands are welcome.
Just ride — and join women riders in over 120 countries worldwide.

In addition to joining in with women around the world, remember it is you that is an important role model inspiring other women on IFRD!
By being visible, you in your own unique way, inspire others and set an example of the diversity, the fun, and the penchant women share through this activity – motorcycling and motorsports
- CELEBRATE the social, economic, and cultural motorsport achievements of women riders. Visibility and awareness help drive positive change for women, no matter the activity.
- DECLARE with passion how you, as an person or organisation help “ride forward” motorcycling for women. This “just ride” purposeful action can accelerate gender parity and alter perception; preconceived judgements or notions.
IFRD Let’s Get Ready

Pre-IFRD Motorcycle Prep and Maintenance
- READY YOUR RIDE. Plan to prepare your ride in advance. For many riders, this is the first ride of the new riding season. Begin your preparations at least 10 days before IFRD. This will allow time if you need parts etc. Do a pre-ride inspection, check your tires, liquids (oil, fuel, brake fluid, etc.). At least this way you’ll know your motorcycle won’t be the reason keeping you from participating.
- READY YOUR GEAR. Double check that your gloves, helmet, jacket and boots are in good shape. And don’t forget rain gear an essential to every rider’s wardrobe. In many parts of the world it’s springtime which often means, unpredictable weather and showers. But this is not a reason to stop you from participating so be prepared. Some of the best experienced women have shared with us over the years have been during rainy IFRD days.
- RIDE REFRESHER. If this is your first ride of the season, be sure to get a few kilometres in to “air out the cobwebs” so to speak. Take your bike to a parking lot (vacant open space) and go through a few exercises to refresh your skills. Practise a straight line emergency stop, a swerve and then practise those slow speed controls. This article on “essentials skills” will help.
Download And Display The IFRD Icon

- Display the International Female Ride Day icon for promoting positive IFRD related activity while profiling the unity across all borders.
- Display IFRD logo on your website, Facebook page or in your flyer.
- Wear an awesome IFRD “Just Ride!” collectible t-shirt on IFRD!
- Print out the *windscreen flyer to display on your motorcycle.
*Windscreen flyer available for download and printing 10 days before every IFRD date.
Plan Your IFRD “Just Ride!”
Whether you choose to ride solo, with friends, or as part of a group, having a simple ride plan can help you make the most of your International Female Ride Day®.
Solo Ride Ideas for IFRD
The beauty of the IFRD call to action —“Just Ride!” — is that you can fully take part and have a fantastic time even on your own.
Here are a few ideas for celebrating IFRD solo:
- Ride to Your Local Dealership: There is often something happening for IFRD at local dealerships. Even if there is no formal event, it can still make a great destination for your ride.
- Visit a Local Landmark or Monument: Pick a notable spot in your city or region and snap your IFRD photo there. This is a popular way women around the world share their local culture and celebrate the day.
- Plan a Weekend Ride: Turn IFRD into a longer experience with an overnight stay along the way. A solo getaway ride can be a memorable way to mark the occasion.
- Cruise Your City, Town, or Village: Your ride does not need to be elaborate. An hour, an afternoon, an evening, or a full day—it is entirely up to you. The important thing is to get out and ride.
- Book a Track Day: Add some thrill to your IFRD by signing up for a track session at your local circuit. It is a fun and exciting way to celebrate the day.
- Try an Off-Road or Adventure Experience: An off-road course or adventure ride is another great way to celebrate IFRD and enjoy a different side of motorcycling and powersports.
Organise An IFRD Ride, Meet-Up, or Event
Meet Up Ride with Friends. This can be with a few of your rider friends. Meet up, take a ride and then end the day with a photo and dinner.
Bring Something of Meaning Into Your Ride Plan. Some women have implemented traditions or themes within their groups each year. The women in Hungary always ride with pink balloons on their bikes. Other women have a dress code (colours) and others even purple “tutus”!
Coordinate An IFRD Event. This can be done via a venue of your choice or in collaboration with a dealership. Think about inviting speakers, motorsport experts, etc. Include industry supporters who can also make gear or event donations for giveaways.
- Social share your support by posting on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
- Promote your ride via social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) using the yearly hashtags: #internationalfemalerideday #IFRD
- Use our IFRD Facebook profile filter (to be announced) to proudly display your involvement with women riders the world over!
Enter The IFRD Photo Share Sweepstake
- Upload and share your engaging ride day images, videos or articles that show the success of your JUST RIDE day.
- Upload your awesome IFRD capture to the photo sweepstake . Share within the Facebook group and your own page.
Get The Word Out About IFRD
- CAMPAIGN: Run your own IFRD Just Ride! Campaign and engage local papers, TV, radio.
- SHARE THE LOGO: Post the IFRD icon and logo on the office, school or workplace events bulletin board.
- INSPIRE THE YOUNG: Offer to visit a public school or young girls club on your bike during IFRD to inspire a change of perception for young girls.
- CALL FOR ACTION: Ask friends, colleagues and your favourite motorcycle local businesses what they’re doing to help shed a light on motorcycling for women.
- VISIT A WOMEN’S CRISIS CENTRE: Arrange a visit to a women’s crisis centre to inspire and be a role model to women less fortunate. Bring along some donations (clothing, makeup, toys, etc.)
There’s no limit to how you join in with women around the world on this one synchronised, empowering ride day. Let your imagination fly – “JUST RIDE!
Ride Your Way — But Always Put Safety First
- Always prioritise your safety.
- Never exceed your limits, and never feel pressured to do so.
- Ride responsibly.
- If a road or riding situation feels unsafe, trust your instincts and exit. This applies to your mental and physical well-being too.
- If you’re not feeling up to par or something feels off, park your bike until you’re better. If necessary, call a friend or use a ride-sharing service. Your safety is always the top priority.

Hi Vicki, hi all female riders, friends,
THIS is the 10th edition of the south-west German IFRD!
It started with 12 female participants, bmw test rides and a female rock band in 2013. Until today, our community has been growing and almost all of us know each other and meet up a couple of times during the year for a tour weekend or even bike holidays.
Some of the ladies and girls arrived yesterday evening. They are taking their own touristic tour around the region today.
This evening we will have a welcome and dinner at the hotel in St. Ingbert, Germany, together with all who have travelled to participate tomorrow.
Almost 60 ladies will be ready for take-off tomorrow after breakfast, guided by 7 ladies, in groups from fast to slow.
We will be surrounding Saarland during the day (about 250 km) and get back to the hotel for the evening get-together.
We’ll have a special guest from an organization which promotes the construction of underride protection for crash barriers.
We are so excited to see them all in one place. The organization of this has carried us through dark winter times. And now we can’t wait for it to begin!!
We wish you all a safe ride, hope you enjoy the day wherever you are!
All the best
Frauke, Ute, Pia, Christiane, Sylvi, Anne
and Annika

Hi all! 🙂❤️
We will be riding again in Germany, south-western part.
We are a community of more than 40 ladies who first met on IFRD 2013 and from then on grew and grew and some of us made really good friends within the community. We meet a few times a year, not only making plans for the next IFRD, but also planning holidays, such as touring to France or Italy and enjoying some time on wheels together with some really great woman bikers.
The community is growing and most of the girls who took part the first time in 2013 will come and join every year.
We ride in different groups with 5 or 6 well prepared tour guides (cruiser, medium or faster speed) and meet the other groups for the breaks.
Looking forward to a great event.
This time the tour guides will lead us to the Nürburgring race track to have a look what is happening at “the green hell” from outside.
Just ride,
Ladies, ride and enjoy!!
All the best and ride safely
